What is the CSWIP exam pass mark?
TWI does not publish the pass mark on their official underwater inspection course pages. The pass mark for the underwater certification scheme should be confirmed directly with your TWI-approved training centre or by reviewing the official CSWIP scheme document.

What is the difference between CSWIP 3.1u, 3.2u and 3.4u?
The three CSWIP underwater inspection levels form a career progression pathway. Each builds on the one before it.

For the most common diver route: you must hold CSWIP 3.1u or 3.2u for a minimum of 3 years with at least 100 logged hours of underwater inspection work before you can attend the 3.4u course. Other entry routes exist for ROV inspectors, surface NDT practitioners, and engineering graduates — confirm your eligibility at TWI ↗.

How do I start the CSWIP 3.1u Diver Inspector certification?

To attend the CSWIP 3.1u course you must hold an approved commercial diving qualification and an HSE-approved, in-date full commercial diver medical certificate.

Book a TWI-approved training centre
The course runs for approximately 5 days and is followed by the CSWIP exam. Common locations include Middlesbrough (UK) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

Can I study for CSWIP online?
It depends on the level. The 3.1u and 3.2u courses must be completed in person at a TWI-approved training centre. The 3.4u course is also available online — TWI deliver it in two parts (theory and practical) so you only need to attend a training centre for the final exam.
For all levels, your exam preparation can be done entirely online:
